Planning outfits for a photo session can be Stressful!
I speak from experience!
There are three tips I always give my photo clients…
1- Mama start with your outfit and go from there!
Why? because we are the hardest to please and figure out! The guys are easy…the kids are easy- they have little to no say!! It’s US mama’s! So start with yourself, find something you feel great and beautiful in!
Believe me, I had not taken the advice personally at one point and it wasn’t fun! I ended up being last to figure out my outfit and that left me very depressed! haha
2- Coordinate with your Decor
I know that sounds bizarre…but choose outfits that “go with your house decor”. Yep because keep in mind these pictures SHOULD be plastered all of your walls in your home! —> Why you should print your pictures for your home!
If my house is not decorated in edgy neon colors, hence my family photos will not be taken in clothes that are edgy and neon colors! Do you see? Get my point?
3- Chill- the hardest point yet!
Don’t stress yourself out over what you see as “every little flaw” in yourself. I’m telling you, us mamas are hard on ourselves! Be gentle and forgiving to yourself. Don’t worry about your arms looking fat, or your side profile that you have, or your extra 5 pounds. Truth be told as a mama you’ll have that little one on your lap and your photographer will not line you up to take a side profile, right? So chill out about those petty things, dress up cute and pretty, put your smile on and put your stress away and GET in those pictures with your kiddos.
One of the statements I made to my sister as I was trying to figure out what I was wearing to a family session was…”Now I know why most moms don’t schedule family sessions, just session for the kids.” As that came out of my mouth…it’s true…but I was determined to “not be one of those”. Get in the pictures, you won’t regret it in 50 years nor will your kids, they will remember the good times you had, the sweet mama and daddy and the season of life. Anndddd truth be told you won’t even remember your stress of that day, you’ll just smile at the memories made and you have!
