I want to share with you a few of our weaknesses or failures along with our victories! I’m also going to be sharing a few of our new favorite recipes we tried! You know, lets be honest, it’s not easy completely coming OFF of all sugars! I can do it Monday – Friday when I’m in my normal routine and at home, for the most part. It’s when the weekend comes and we’re on the run or want to go out on a date night and the hubby says – hey do you want to split a dessert…*face palm*! How do I tell him no?! So I’ll be honest I mainly got off board on the weekends, but I’d quickly jump right back on board and get my mindset going for the next day. I feel it’s ok to have a cheat every now and then, but make SURE you are mentally prepped to jump right back in!
I met several of my goals, YAY! I could definitely tell my energy levels are better without refined sugar in my diet! I am a believer in that and I did lose a few pounds, which always makes me happy!
One of the biggest questions I got from fellow friends who jumped on board with me was…what do you put in your coffee?!? I like the vanilla/coconut almond milk added in for some flavor and then a packet of the SPLENDA® Naturals Stevia Sweetener did it for me! I think it’s dependent on your taste buds and what you grow to enjoy! Yet I can’t give up coffee so I knew there was a solution!
We love chicken salad and tuna salad, those kinds of dishes for lunch! So I was on a mission to find one that would work for us plus one that would change it up a bit! I found it!!!!
- 1 1/2 c. (cooked) shredded chicken
- 2 Slices of Cooked Bacon- crumbled
- 1/2 c. Apple- chopped
- 1/2 c. Grapes- sliced
- 1/4 c. Almonds - sliced
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/8 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 c Plain Greek Yogurt
- Combine all ingredients until mixed well. If you prefer your salad to be creamier add more plain Greek yogurt to satisfy your taste.
- Top with a few almonds!
- Serve with Tomatoes, Avocados or on a bed of lettuce.
Our favorite supper recipe has become White Chicken Chili (we love to heat it up for lunch too!)
