This Instant Pot Caribbean Black Bean Recipe is one of our all times favorites.  I love an instant pot black bean recipe with no soaking prior to cooking!  Take a look at our family favorite instant pot black beans and rice recipe!  It makes us dream of being in the Caribbean eating authentic food – dreaming of blue water, blue skies and sunshine!

Instant Pot Caribbean Black Bean Recipe

One of the reasons I, as mom, love this recipe because our whole family loves it, it is a cheap meal to make but isn’t just the ordinary “beans and rice” meal.  You know those kind I’m talking about, this Instant Pot Caribbean Black Bean Recipe takes the cake when it comes to a cheap beans and rice meal.  Not to mention it’s super duper easy, WIN!

How to Make Instant Pot Caribbean Black Beans

Here’s how to make this Instant Pot Caribbean Black Beans

Step 1 – On the sauté’ setting add 2 TBSP of oil and sauté’ your sausage along with your chopped onions and garlic.

Step 2 – Remove sausage and onions/garlic to now cook the meat.  If you aren’t particular you can always leave the meat/onions/garlic in while your beans cook, just know that by doing so you’ll turn the beans a different color – it doesn’t affect the taste- according to my experiments!

Step 3 – No soaking required!  Remember that’s the beautiful part of this recipe!  No extra prep time and work involved!

Place chicken broth and beans in instant pot to pressure cook for 45 minutes on the bean setting.

Let pressure naturally release for at least 30 minutes as this helps the remaining process.

Step 4 – Once beans are cooked add your meat/onions/garlic into beans (unless you left them in while beans pressured).  Add a jar of salsa and you can keep your IP on warm until you are ready to serve!

Your Instant Pot Caribbean Black Beans are ready to serve!

Serve with: rice, tortilla chips and top with fresh cilantro, grated cheddar cheese and sour cream!

Now do you see why these are a family favorite?

This recipe can also be served as a soup – A Bountiful Kitchen expounds on the recipe as a soup as well as over rice too.
