I am all about Italian food.  In fact it’s probably my favorite comfort food of all times, better yet any celebration around here we tend to gravitate to Italian food as well.  My birthday – I request Italian…our wedding anniversary you could have found us at the local Italian restaurant.  It’s just a favorite around here.Easy Tiramisu Recipe

When our schedule is too busy for me to cook a meal from scratch you’ll find me adding a favorite to my Walmart list for the week ahead.  Putting a favorite on our menu plan – a Michael Angelo’s Family Size Lasagna with Meat Sauce.  The kind of meal that is inspired by Italian traditions with homemade tastes.  I can easily pair it with warm garlic bread or a fresh salad then top it off with this Easy Tiramisu Dessert!   It easily becomes a family favorite and a winner plus all of my ingredients can be snagged at Walmart.  Easy Tiramisu Dessert Easy Tiramisu Dessert Recipe

Michael Angelo’s has single serve items, family size entrees, meal starters and calzones – which are top on my list to try!  I love the fact that I know this meal is an authentic Italian – style recipe made with wholesome, simple ingredients.  The full flavor doesn’t make any compromises and they don’t use artificial preservatives, flavors or colors…it’s just simply a homemade taste in every bite.  The best part you can find all of these (below) in the freezer aisle at your local Walmart.

You can choose from the other Family size entrees as well:

  • Michael Angelo’s Family Size Cheesy Pizza Pasta
  • Michael Angelo’s Family Size Baked Ziti with Meatballs
  • Michael Angelo’s Family Size Spicy Shrimp Scampi
  • Michael Angelo’s Family Size Vegetable Pasta Primavera

Ingredients:

  • 1 c. brewed coffee
  • 1/2 c. + 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2- 8oz packages of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 12 ounces whipped topping
  • 16 ounce frozen pound cake, thinly sliced
  • 1 Tbsp cocoa powder

Easy Tiramisu Dessert Recipe

Step by Step:

  1. In a small bowl mix the coffee and 1 tablespoon sugar. Set aside.

  2. In a medium bowl beat softened cream cheese, remaining sugar, and almond extract.

  3. Fold in the whipped cream and set aside.

  4. In an ungreased 9×13 baking dish, place one layer of pound cake slices on the bottom, cutting pieces to make them fit as needed. Pour or spoon over 1/3 of the coffee on to the cake slices as evenly as possible.  Definitely make sure your coffee is soaked into all of your cake, don’t be greedy! Easy Tiramisu Dessert Recipe

  5. Top with 1/3 of the cream cheese mixture. Repeat layers two more times, ending with a cream cheese layer on top. Use a sifter to dust the top with the cocoa powder. Cover with plastic wrap and chill 24 hours before serving.

This is such an easy dessert recipe that I promise everyone will love – from guests to family and friends it’s a winner.  Don’t skimp yourself on the whole idea of “chill for 24 hours before serving”, it’s true you need that chill time. I like to just plan on making this the day before and letting it chill overnight!

Do you and your family love Italian-style meals as much as we do?  What is your favorite pairing recipe?
