I love love love decorating our home for the holidays.  Whether it’s the fall/Thanksgiving decor or the festive/ cheery Christmas decor, it’s probably one of my favorite times of year.  Decorating our home makes it feel more inviting, cozy and warm, not to mention getting us in the holiday mode this time of year.  It always amazes me how changing a few “spotlight” decorations within your home can certainly create a drastic makeover, quickly.  We aren’t talking spending major dollars, rather, simply refreshing your mantel, table scape or even a nightstand in a guest room…these details can really be a game changer for the holiday spirit in your home.  Have you ever just simply changed a wreath on your front door, or your front door doormat?  I’m telling you these aren’t huge  changes but they can make a HUGE difference.

At Home is relatively new in my area and I love it…I don’t have time to run in and out of multiple stores, rather having a one stop shop like At Home helps me stick to my budget at the same time decorating my home for the season.  For my kitchen table I went for a new table runner and new wooden bowl so I could place my seasonal pumpkins in (or apples we just picked from the orchard in North Carolina!!!!)  My front door needed some color so I chose a new door mat that was fitting for the fall/winter and of course had to add in some bright yellow mums and orange pumpkins.

My “go-to” spotlight decorations are:

  1. My kitchen table – center piece
  2. Front door entrance way -i.e. wreath, flowers, door mat and sometimes a sign in my garden by the walk way
  3. End Tables in the living room space
  4. Guest Room – bed side table or even a new touch of a pillow on the bed can make a very big change
  5. Bathrooms- growing up my mom always made our bathrooms have a little something seasonal in them too, something I always remember!

What is a spot light decoration you always find yourself changing in your home for the holidays?
