With all of our family photography sessions, family travel and everyday life I wanted to create a Family Wall Art full of our memories- a big thanks to MPIX for sponsoring this post.

Family Wall Art
As a professional photographer I take so so sooooo many family photos…whether it’s in our everyday life, our travels, holidays or scheduling with another photographer for a family photography session. Either way I never ever lack for photos…which is a good thing, in my opinion! Agree?

Part of the downfall of our digital culture and society is we take these pictures on our DSLR cameras, smart phones and other devices, yet they never get printed.
Can I scream from the mountain tops to every single person…PRINT YOUR PICTURES!!!!! You’ll never regret having photo books, prints on the wall, canvas prints and the list goes on. I have so many photo books, pictures printed on canvas throughout our home and I’ve got several family wall art galleries. I don’t regret having any of those pieces in our home. I also don’t regret the investment spent on these prints.

Photography Wall Art
My favorite of all is all of our photography wall art. From creating themed wall art to session wall art…each has their own personality which I love.
Today I’m sharing my latest family wall art that features a few of our travels and everyday memories that are so vivid in my mind. I chose pictures that truly revealed our family personality, our family style and those trips and memories that stand out in my mind.

Family Photo Wall Ideas
Here are a few tips for family photo wall ideas when choosing what pictures or theme to use.
- Travels – choose one trip or choose from various trips, showcase family pictures, adventure pictures, favorite monuments or architecture, motion, action, details – any photos from your travel that you want to display!
- Family Photo Session – have you had a family photo session? Display a picture of all the kids individually, together, entire family, mom/dad, etc.
- Everyday life- Do you take pictures of your everyday life? How about the kids eating ice cream cones? Playing in the snow? Running through mud puddles or reading a book. These are the moments that we don’t want to forget!

Family Wall Art Picture Frames
Once you decide on your theme…next you want to figure out your wall space and dimensions so you can purchase the picture frames for your prints.
For this gallery wall I chose to have my husband make a floating shelf…and he hand forged the brackets – which I’m kind of in love with!!!! Oh the talent this guy has…anyway that’s not why we’re here!!!!

So I was able to choose different size prints which meant different size picture frames were needed. I love a cohesive look on the actual family wall art pictures frames…so another words they all have the same size mat and same width/color frame but the prints are different sizes. Some added dimension for the wall was pleasing to the eye.
My other gallery wall I went all the same size print which meant the same size frames! It’s really just your preference!
Thankfully with mpix.com they took all the guess work out of the process for me when it came to sizing my picture frames. I ordered my prints through them and then had them frame them…and I’m in love! I’ve gotten so many compliments on this photo gallery wall!

If you need help visualizing I always recommend to cut out the size you are thinking of using in card board pieces – tape those to the wall or set them on your shelf. This truly helps you visualize and order exactly what you want/need.
A few ideas if you don’t want to use picture frames for a photo gallery wall you can also consider using:

My inspiration for this wall came from Darling Do and she gives you the step by step on how to make the floating shelf and if you want to match her exact picture frame design she gives you each size picture she ordered along with the details. She makes it super easy and stream lined!
Family photos hold a special place in my heart as I’m sure they do yours. We had a lot of fun making this family wall art our own, from choosing the images that meant a lot to us, using the amazing MPIX for our prints and frames, my husband making the floating shelf and hand forging the brackets – we love this little nook in our home.

Enjoy a fun and super quick video on a little of our process:
