Thank you Facebook Marketplace for sponsoring this post. There’s something for everyone!

Last week, a friend and I were talking about money… a topic that we all face and what soon becomes reality in our lives. More importantly, we were talking about saving money, being frugal, and being patient with money. She mentioned a key phrase that has stuck with me since…Patience is the greatest form of income – thank you!!!

Today, I want to share with you how being patient can pay you in the end and become the greatest form of income to you. How?

1- Make a List

If you know me…you are probably laughing right now because I’m a HUGE list person. So much so my three-year-old walks around “making lists”!  In all seriousness, you need to make a list…a list of items you are looking for or need. Whether it’s gifts, home needs, or clothing…make a list!

2- Set a Budget

Next to the items on your list set a budget, or a max amount you are willing to spend on that item. For me it almost becomes a fun game…to see how much of a bargain I can snag…yet being reasonable.

3- Watch and Look

Here is where your list becomes imperative, otherwise you’ll be purchasing things that you don’t need! My favorite place to keep an eye out for the items I want/need is Facebook Marketplace.  I love that it’s a convenient and easy way to discover items for sale…I don’t have to download another app on my phone. I can stay right on Facebook – not to mention communication with the seller is easy through Messenger and I can also check out their public Facebook profile before deciding if I want to buy from them, which I do every single time!

4- Save time

When I create my item list, not only does it keep me focused, it also helps me create a budget which, lastly, also helps me save time. Through Facebook Marketplace, I can enter a search which then alerts me when things on that search/list pop up for sale in my area. For instance, I’m waiting to find a bench for my foyer…well in my saved searches I have “bench” and Facebook will notify me when a new bench in my area has been listed!

As we have been preparing to move into our new home, I’ve been anxious to furnish it and decorate. Yet the key is with me being anxious, I have not gotten ahead of myself! I’ve made myself just wait.  Waiting is hard but worth it in the end. I haven’t had an endless budget to purchase what I want, when I want…we are paying for this as we go so I haven’t just been swiping a credit card to get what I want. I can say though, I haven’t settled for junk and it’s been well worth the wait!

Just to name a few items I’ve been able to find in the last few weeks right from Facebook Marketplace:

  • Kitchen Table Chairs – which I sanded and painted
  • Buffet Hutch – which I sanded and painted for our learning/play room
  • Leather Couch and Loveseat – looks like new and all I had to do was clean the leather
  • New With Tag Khaki pants for my husband
  • Stools for our kitchen island
  • My little one’s toy piano for her room

I can’t tell you the money I’ve saved…I may have had a little work involved in getting the pieces exactly how I wanted them, but in the end I’ve literally saved thousands of dollars by being patient.

I’ll also mention you can also earn extra income by selling on Facebook Marketplace.

Have you been able to snag some great finds on Facebook Marketplace?  I’d love to hear your bargain story in the comments below!
