A special thank you to The Roost for hosting our adventure and getaway. There are so many fun things to do in Ocean Springs MS and across the coast that I hope to share with you all today as you plan your next trip!
Thankfully we don’t have to look far to have a little oasis from our own paradise, called home! I know that may sound counter to each other but we love home and life at home… but we love going and exploring on a new adventure.

Many times you think of the idea of “getting away” needing to be miles from home…when in reality you are probably like we are, you have amazing places (*almost*) in your backyard! We literally can drive less than an hour and be on the Mississippi Gulf Coast where we can find beautiful places to explore, amazing cafes or coffee shops to enjoy and great spots for eating, plenty of the great outdoors to explore and the list goes on.

The Coastal Mississippi spans 62 miles along the Gulf of Mexico with 12 cities that make up the coast line. Each little city has it’s very own relaxed, gorgeous and unique vibe to it. Of course I have my favorites…but visiting any of these cities you’ll find great attractions, lodging or culinary experiences.

Our little adventure took us straight into Ocean Springs Mississippi where we stayed the night at the quiet and quaint boutique hotel “The Roost”. Talk about a lovely stay…a quiet, homey space to relax and lay our heads down! We were within walking distance to downtown Ocean Springs and it’s everything you can dream of when it comes to Southern Charm for a coastal town! Seriously if you’ve not visited you should put this little town on top of your bucket list!

After settling into The Roost we enjoyed dinner at Murky’s BBQ right in the heart of downtown Ocean Springs…some of the best finger-licking-BBQ you’ll taste! We enjoyed this treat for sure! We called it an evening and spent the extra time in our comfy clothes watching some documentaries on the Atlanta Aquarium, which we had visited a few months before so that was pretty cool…I know we are an exciting bunch!!!

The next morning we were onto a fun day spent exploring together…first off, and most importantly, was coffee and breakfast at Bright Eyed Brew Co… enjoying my art latte til the very last drop!

Don’t judge me…I basically had two breakfasts this morning…one with my little family and then….another lovely breakfast with Anna, PR of Coastal Mississippi, who is an extraordinaire when it comes to hospitality and generosity. The Greenhouse on Porter served us a delicious biscuit breakfast with a cup of coffee – what a way to start the day! This unique find not only served amazing breakfast but provided such a unique experience – eating in a green house…does it get any better than that?!?

Once breakfast and my coffee drinking was filled to the max we headed for a private tour of the WAMA – Walter Anderson Museum of Art and talk about a fabulous tour. Honestly worth every minute if you are in the area – so much history and rich culture in the heart of this downtown area. After the tour we spent some time in their kids art room letting Miss E create her own art pieces, what fun!

After dodging a bit of rain we decided to eat again…I mean after all that’s half of the fun on an adventure, right? Glory Bound Gyro was on our radar and boy it didn’t disappoint…in fact just writing about it makes me crave the delicious gyro and pizza we had!

Now you see a little special treat for Miss E – the Lynn Meadow’s Discovery Center was the perfect spot post lunch…it was actually a quiet time to arrive which gave us most of the museum to ourselves, at least it felt that way! What a fun time we had together…a good time of getting all of our energy out just in time to take a nap in the car ride home!!!!

Yet we had one more last stop as we drove along the gorgeous coast seeing the amazing water views…Cat Island Coffee house and bookstore – can you see a trend along the coast for me? The amazing eats and drinks!!!!!! This little coffee shop is one of my favorites – for me their coffee is ah-mazing…and then when I’m married to a book lover and we’ve got a little book lover it makes for a little slice of heaven on earth for everyone!

Our two days away was so well spent and worth our time together exploring…even though we dodged rain for the most part we made up for it finding all of our new favorite eats and treats!!!
A huge thank you again to The Roost for hosting our stay and for Anna Roy of Coastal Mississippi for making us feel so at home and well taken care of – you all are the best at shining what true Southern hospitality is!
