Inside: Looking to save money? How to Save Money on Electric Bill each month? Reducing your electricity bill at home can be a task but with these tips you might be able to cut your electric bill in half! We are all about saving money and lowering our power bill!
How to Save Money on Electric Bill
Here around our home we really do penny pinch where we can. Every little bit helps, right? Don’t look at what you can save per week or month rather look what you can save in a whole years time. It can be eye opening when you put all areas of savings into one number. I know we are talking about electric bills and how to keep your power bill low today but think of areas you can save in your lifestyle, groceries, entertainment, clothing etc. If you can successfully budget (and stick to that budget) each area in life you’ll see dollars signs quickly adding up!
How to Reduce Electricity Bill at Home
Monitor Power Bill- A few ways we monitor our power bill is by using TP- Link light bulbs! I’m a HUGE fan of these but my husband is even more of a fan! We can monitor these Smart Home bulbs (LB130) straight from our smart phone, wowza, right?!
We can also set them on a timer to come on or off at certain times, which is super helpful. There are many times I leave the house in the late afternoon and forget to leave a light on in the house- which is what I like to do because I don’t like walking into a dark house! If this happens I can simply go to my app and turn on the light before I get out of my car and walk into my house!
We also have the Smart Home plugs (HS110) where we can monitor remotely!
So how do we manage these remotely? Though the Kasa app that is free for your smart phone! Installation literally took us maybe 3 minutes…it’s not a complex piece of technology to set up…it’ SIMPLE!!!!!
Ways to Save On Your Electric Bill
Call your Electric Company- Ask if there are any programs you can do to help conserve energy and save money to help lower your power bill. We are on a time of use plan for our local energy co-op. If we conserve energy during certain times during the day our rate is cheaper and we save on our electricity bill. This is a pretty easy way to see the dollars add up!
Use Programmable Thermostats- Update your thermostats to be programmed to come on and off rather than running the entire day you are not even at home. Have it cool down 30 minutes before you arrive home and be set to a warmer temperature during the day if you’re not at home!
Timer on Your Hot Water Heater- We have a timer on our hot water heater so that it doesn’t run all day and use energy. We got this idea from: Family Handy Man!
Simply Turn off Lights- This is simple, if you aren’t in the room there is no need to have your lights on. Turn them off!
Don’t Use Your Dryer- This one goes against a lot of people but if you can do it, it will save you each month as well. Consider a clothesline in exchange for drying all of your laundry. I love my clothesline because there is nothing better than fresh air dried laundry that smells like the sunshine and fresh air! Ahhhhhhh!!! This isn’t for every one and I don’t use it EVERY single load but I use it about 95% of the time and I love it!
