Thank you to United Way with #MyFreeTaxes for sponsoring this post today.

When I hear the word free I listen extra carefully.  I’m such a penny pincher and budget mama that it’s probably not even funny, yet at the same time I’m glad I am and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It’s tax season which in all honesty is my least favorite season aka holiday ever in the history known to man kind.  Ok I’m just being honest!  As a hard working, small business owner and entrepreneur I value every dime I make…well rather every penny I make because I work hard for it!!!!  So tax season sometimes just doesn’t settle well with me.

A great solution though is not having to pay to file my taxes.  You can file free through My Free Taxes a platform through United Way if you earned less than $66,000 in 2017. There are no extra fees all while experts are watching and helping me…that’s what you call a WIN!

A few amazing and helpful facts…

  • Did you know that 70 percent of U.S. taxpayers qualify for free tax filing.
  • The MyFreeTaxes filing software is powered by an industry leader, H&R Block, which guarantees that tax returns are 100 percent accurate.
  • Most filers complete their taxes under an hour.
  • Users can file federal and up to three state returns for free.
  • Taxpayers save an average of $200 in fees by using MyFreeTaxes instead of a paid tax preparer.
  • MyFreeTaxes is the only free, online, national tax filing product offered by a nonprofit.

More tips……

Tip #1: Don’t pay to file your taxes.

If your household earned less than $66,000 in 2017 you can file both your federal and state returns for free using MyFreeTaxes.com. This is the only free, online tax filing product offered by a nonprofit. United Way has made it available to over 100 million U.S. taxpayers as part of our fight for the financial stability of every person in every community.

Tip #2: “Free” doesn’t always mean free.

Some “free” tax preparation products only cover federal (not state) filing, or charge extra for anything beyond the most basic forms. MyFreeTaxes is completely free for individuals and families who earned less than $66,000 in 2017 — whether you file in multiple states, work freelance, have a side gig, or earn investment income.

Tip #3: Let the experts handle the details.

MyFreeTaxes is powered by H&R Block’s premium software, so filing is easy, secure, and guaranteed to be 100% accurate. The software scans for any tax credit you’re entitled to, making sure you get your maximum refund. If you have questions along the way, IRS-certified specialists are ready to answer your questions in real time.

Whether you’re a freelancer, an independent contractor, or have a side-job, MyFreeTaxes ensures you get every dollar you deserve.  MyFreeTaxes offers specialized forms for self-employed filers.

My Free Taxes is not a new system that’s just been set in place, in fact almost a million people have used MyFreeTaxes, bringing over $1 billion of refunds back to our local communities.  Tried and true always sets my mind at ease!
