What to Wear for Easter Pictures
Happy Spring! Let me take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Tiffany Crenshaw and I’m the owner of Animal House Photography. I never set out to be a photographer, but somehow it found me. I live in Columbia SC, married to a real-life Jack Pearson. We have two beautiful girls ages 5 and 2. I originally began taking pictures of my daughters for different, handmade clothing brands. I began by just using my phone camera. When I found a great deal on a used camera I thought, “Why not?” The more I took pictures of the girls, the more people would ask me if I’d be interested in taking their pictures. I declined for about a year. I finally decided to go out on faith and trust my eye and my passion. Follow me on INSTAGRAM and over at FACEBOOK .
Spring Family Pictures
That brings me to one of my favorite topics of conversation: Locations and wardrobe. This time of year you will begin to see a lot of photographers advertising Spring sessions. This is a great time of year to update those family photos and photos of your little ones. There are a couple of things to keep in mind when choosing the session that is right for you! One of the things to keep in mind is What to wear for spring pictures! Let’s dive right in to my best tips for you!
1- Choose a classic location and set up.
Heavily propped sessions can be a lot of fun and have their place. However, when taking pictures I tend to think of things that can be printed and hung on my walls year round. Professional pictures are something that you will want to display and have on your wall long term. Choosing a set-up that has too many holiday-specific props could take away from the look you envision in your home. For my spring sessions I used a simple bouquet of flowers as well as a floral swing with muted tones.
2- Choose outfits that compliment your scenery.
When styling my clients for this floral swing shoot I went with simple patterns and solid colors. If your background is simple, then an outfit that stands out is a great idea. For example a grassy field can lean itself toward an outfit with pattern or multiple colors. For the floral swing, the flowers were the star of the show. If someone was wearing a floral dress with the floral swing this would make for very busy pictures.

3- When multiple people are in pictures, go for complimenting colors and patterns.
There is so much to be said on this topic. Gone are the days of all white shirts and jeans for family shoots. It can be very distracting on camera and is rarely the look the client is actually going for. Go for variations within the same family of colors. For instance creams, mauves and sage are all colors in the same family of tones and would be beautiful together. For my mommy and me we added a purple floral crown to compliment mom’s white dress. Also, pick just one person to have a pattern. If mom is wearing a striped dress, others should choose more solid options.
