Week before last we escaped to a little 3 day getaway which was quite the fancy for us.  Lately we are so focused on completing the building of our house that we have to stop and prioritize a little down time and quality time together.  Being intentional can be hard…but is super important and healthy.  We are so glad we got away for a little time to rejuvenate, relax and refresh.Travel Tips & Tricks for a Romantic Getaway

Booking our getaway through Expedia offered ease, flexibility and extra savings for our trip!  The new service they offer when booking a flight or a car is –> Expedia Add-On Advantage.  I really liked this feature because it took the pressure off of planning and paying for your entire trip all at once.

Travel Tips & Tricks for a Romantic Getaway

I wanted to share my basic tips and planning method for our getaway…in hopes it will help you and you won’t get overwhelmed when planning a trip….

How to Plan a Romantic Getaway

Ask yourself

  1. When are we going? i.e. dates/time frame
  2. What is our budget?
  3. Where are we going?
  4. How will we get there?
  5. Where are we staying?

The rest will fall into place, I promise!  Like the important details of where will we eat?!?!?  That’s always top of our priority list too! hehehow to plan a romantic getaway

So here we go…

#1 When are we going?  Decide first your time frame, look at your calendar and see what works best for both of you…see about getting time off of work (if that’s an issue).  This is THE FIRST piece of information you have to have to move forward!how to plan a romantic getaway Travel Tips & Tricks for a Romantic Getaway

#2 What is our budget? – This may or may not be an issue for you.  If it is, decide the amount you are willing to spend on your getaway.  This may determine the rest of the tips…maybe you don’t have an exact budget so you just want to explore options.  That’s up to you and what you are comfortable with in the realms of your financial standing.how to plan a romantic getaway how to plan a romantic getaway travel tips for couples

#3 Where are we going? – Sometimes this is the hardest part to decide…because it feels like the options are endless…at least our dreams are endless.  We are always talking about where we want to travel next…it seems we keep a running list of places we want to explore and adventure.travel tips for couples travel tips for couples travel tips for couples

#4 How will you get there? – This is highly dependent on #3 – rental car? flight? Begin to explore your destination, the distance from you and what you are comfortable with.

#5 Where are we staying? – Once you have nailed down tip #1-4 you can then begin to explore your options of your stay.things to do on a romantic getaway travel tips for couples things to do on a romantic getaway

This was our process for this Romantic Getaway:

#1 – We both sat down over our calendars and nailed down the dates we were available to travel and be away from life/work

#2 – Based off our time available to getaway we decided on a budget that fit within our boundaries.things to do on a romantic getaway things to do on a romantic getaway things to do on a romantic getaway Travel Tips & Tricks for a Romantic Getaway

#3 – We both agreed we wanted to go somewhere quiet, relaxing and slow paced.  We’ve been so so soooo busy that a destination that ran us ragged was just not appealing to us for this getaway!

#4 – Because it was within a comfortable driving distance we opted for renting a car…which leads me to #5.

#5 – Seeing that we were going to rent a car through Expedia this opened us up to more savings for our getaway through Expedia Add-On Advantage – their new service.   This new service –> Expedia Add-On Advantage let us take all the time we needed to do some extra research to find the perfect hotel at the perfect price.Travel Tips & Tricks for a Romantic Getaway Travel Tips & Tricks for a Romantic Getaway

Once we settled all of the above…we were then able to explore things to do, places to eat and spots to visit on our Romantic Getaway Adventure!  Let the fun and memories begin!
