As we head into November and begin celebrating Thanksgiving I wanted to incorporate some turkey crafts into our Preschool STEAM activities this month.  This T is for Turkey Preschool Craft is super easy and fun. Thanksgiving Turkey Craft

If you are looking for a super easy turkey craft for preschoolers look no further!  In a matter of minutes this turkey craft was ready for the preschoolers to get started on.  In fact it was a pretty last minute thought this past week but let me tell you it was a hit!  It would be perfect to make smaller versions for Thanksgiving cards, thanksgiving table centerpieces or place settings.

Here’s what you need to do to prep for this simple turkey craft:

  • Sketch out the body of a turkey on a piece of white cardstock paper

Supplies you need for turkey craft:

  • 1- 8 1/2 x 11 White cardstock paper (one per child)
  • Orange acrylic paint
  • Yellow acrlyic paint
  • Red acrylic paint
  • Brown acrylic paint
  • Marker
  • Paper plate

Let the preschoolers use their thumb print or finger print to create the feathers of the turkey.  Use each color in a row to fan out the feathers.  It really is that simple and the kids will LOVE this activity.Preschool STEAM Activities Steam Activities for Preschoolers

Have some wet wipes or wet paper towels on hand so they can wipe off their finger print or thumb print in between each color.  In the body of the turkey we just used the brown paint and finger painted it vs. making finger prints.  Let the preschoolers have their own opinions in this art and freedom…it’s really cute seeing what their minds can create!  You can see the variation between these two pieces – there is a 2 1/2 years difference in their ages and their creativity is cute at both stages.

We are a husband and wife team, pairing our strengths together to teach our preschooler in the most fun and engaging way we possibly can.  The mister is a high school educator at Northlake Christian school in Covington Louisiana and over the Innovation Center, which is all things STEAM.  I am a SAHM that blogs pretty much everything we do in our little paradise, from what we eat, to where we travel to how we teach our little one.  We hope you are inspired to incorporate STEAM into learning with your children.
