I’m going to preach to the choir here for a few minutes so bear with me…read if you can relate!!!

As a mom, it’s so easy to jump off of the bandwagon of taking care of ourselves and our health. Am I right? or am I the only one?

As moms, we get so involved with our family, our children, our home and creating an atmosphere for our lives to be happy and peaceful. All of that is wonderful, needful and helpful…don’t get me wrong.

At the same time in the back of our minds our personal health and taking care of ourselves is put on the back burner.  Again I’m not saying it’s a horrible thing…I commend moms who put themselves last and put their families before them.

Yet I want to be active and healthy for my family and not to miss out on the memories being made!

Yet I think we need to balance this in our lives.

Balance is hard.

Balance is needed.

Here are a few ways I’m taking baby steps this coming year to jump back on the bandwagon of health and self care as a mom:

1- Plan

If you read any of my posts you know I’m a firm believer in planning. Literally get a pen and paper…Here again I think that’s where you can be successful…Plan and plan again. Plan your meals, snacks and exercise. Plan when you will weigh in – not everyday, choose once a week at the max.

2- Tools

Having the right tools to aid us can certainly be helpful.  It seems like our whole lives are tied to our devices and they can be…it can also be super helpful so I don’t have to write everything down or remember it, for that matter! With the Nokia Body+ it syncs automatically with my Health Mate app and provides tips on how to best achieve your goals. I’ll take all of the tips I can get!!!! Not to mention, it also shows me the weather for the day!!!!!

Don’t think of the Body+ as just a scale to determine your weight: it’s a body analyzer! It measures weight trends, BMI, fat mass, muscle mass, water, and bone mass, how cool is that? I love the modern, slick design – nothing you feel like you have to hide and tuck away, you can leave it out all of the time.

3- Go Old School

I’m going old school on it this year. My grandmother always said cut out your sugar and bread and you’ll be right on your way to losing weight and being healthy. I’m also incorporating portion control and walking back into my daily routine.

I’m not getting caught up in the fuss of a certain program or certain meals/foods etc. I don’t have time for that fuss and I certainly don’t have time to learn a new program. Keeping it simple, so that no matter where I go to eat I can certainly find something that fits my plan.
