Living Life to the fullest with the ones you love will never be regretted rather I think we’ll regret not celebrating these life events and cherishing the moments we have been given. I truly believe we should celebrate friendships and relationships! So this past month, in September, was Grandparents Day and we are so blessed to have my parents and my husbands parents still in our lives and there for our little one.
So we threw a little Celebration party for my mom and celebrating who she is and what she means to us. We are so grateful for her and what she does for us and that she is still full of life and energy to be living life with us. Although she sufers from arthritis from time to time she maintains her health well and stays active for her family. These discomforts and daily obstacles she faces make her and us grateful for Advil, as it eases her discomforts and gets her through the rough days. She doesn’t let these discomforts stop her from being a part of our lives and pushing through. We are so grateful for her!
Here are the details and “how to” of planning the perfect day and celebration party.
- Who- Think of who you are celebrating
- Where- Where will you celebrate
- When- pick the time and date
- How- plan the party around the “who”.
1- Who: I chose my mom to celebrate and planned the party around her. I chose her favorite meal, drink, dessert and even the party favors are all of her favorites! Make a list of the “who’s” favorite foods, activities, snacks, candies…anything you can think of that you know they love and write it down, this will make planning your party a whole lot easier!
2- Where: Plan the where around how many guests you will have and what the vibe of your celebration will be.
3- When: of course you have to pick a time that is good for you but also think of the guests you will be inviting and a good time for them.
4- How: I chose my theme to be elegant and honoring for our celebration. We dressed up, invited family and friends, made all of our decorations a part of the fall theme, ate delicious food based on what she loves, had the kids and family draw pictures for her and write cards for her, then after the celebration party I sent them all home with a little goodie bag for fun! The goodie bag was filled with things that represent my mom and that she loves!
Our Celebration:
The table:
We set the table to a “t”, including cloth napkins, tea glasses, place settings, decorations, candles, table runner, fresh flowers and yummy food prepared and placed neatly. At each place setting was the card or picture (that the kids drew) in honor of my mom to be given to her during the meal.
Food:
Delicious Pineapple Chicken Salad served on a bed of lettuce with avocado and tomato, Trio Crackers, Sweet Tea with Lemon then topped with homemade Pound Cake, Strawberries and Whip Cream then ended the afternoon with some yummy coffee. Lets just say there weren’t any left overs! I honestly kept it simple yet what I knew she loved.
Goodie Bag:
Included in the goodie bag for all was… A gift card to her favorite local coffee shop, Midnight Milky Ways because she loves all things dark chocolate and a potted plant because she loves to garden in her flower beds. In the adult bags since it’s World Arthritis Day on October 12th I went to Walmart and included the EZ open cap Advil, which is doctor recommended ** and proven stronger for Arthritis and other joint pains.*
Activities:
We spent the time around the table talking and having a good time. We gave her the cards and drawings which always sparks fun emotion and conversation. We visited, ate dessert and even threw in some yummy coffee to end the day!
Photos:
Of course we had to get everyone together for some “formal” photos with each other. Always capture the moments and the memories no matter how skilled you feel you are behind a camera. Don’t forget to pass off the camera and get in the photos too!
Planning is the key to any successful party! The key is making lists!!!
- Create a Timeline
- Guests to be Invited
- Groceries & Goodies to Purchase
- Plan your Decorations (think DETAILS!)
- Check your list twice then mark it off!!!
