Our morning routine seems to change with every season of life we’ve had the last two years! About the time I get used to a routine and schedule it’s time to change again! I will say it seems like the seasons are getting longer now that we have reached toddlerhood!
I’d love to give you a glimpse into our morning routine and what we have found that works for us…currently! I’m including many of our learning activities we incorporate into our morning/day and I hope it inspires you as a mom to push forward with your littles. They are like sponges, soaking in everything we do and teach them! My little one amazes me, and so will yours!
Wake Time: Most mornings our little E sleeps until around 7am and then she wakes up ready to cuddle and snuggle…which is my favorite time! Once she’s ready to go there isn’t much room in our day for slowing down and cuddling…not with a toddler!!
Potty Time: Then we get our day started with going to the potty and getting our clothes on for the day ahead.
Juice: She always wants something to drink first thing in the morning so I make her a cup of juice + water. I only do about a 1/4 a cup of juice to the rest of it water…giving her some flavored water!! Gerber® Pure® is water, pure and simple, and can be used for mixing with infant formula or cereal as well…convenient to grab in the water aisle at your local Walmart!
Books: As I’m fixing her breakfast she is usually reading books on the couch and occasionally she asks for her little tv show, which we don’t have tv/cable so I use youtube on our desktop!
Prep Time: As she’s reading I am usually preparing breakfast as well as prepping for the rest of the morning…i.e. making the bed, cleaning the kitchen and prepping her water bottle with Gerber® Pure® Water (I keep her water bottle filled up and in an accessible place she can easily grab and go.), making my coffee or starting a load of clothes!
Breakfast: Next comes her favorite time of the day – breakfast. She is a child after her daddy’s own heart! These two can tear up some breakfast together…while I’m just sipping on my coffee! She has always been a breakfast eater so it’s usually a good mix of eggs or oatmeal and fruit with an occasional pancake breakfast! Might we say spoiled?!
Picking out an Outfit: The biggest decision of the day for my child…if it were up to her, she’d take all day deciding!!
Believe it or not she’s already having an opinion on what she wants to wear. I’m ok with that as long as I channel it!!!! Call me a control freak mama but she has to match and look presentable! So I give her two choices and let her choose from those. Then we come to the hard decision of what bow to wear…again I pick out what matches and let her close!
Exercise: Most mornings we hit the pavement on a walk. She loves to ride and it’s great for us both to get outdoors but especially for me to get my exercise in and done for the day!
Learning Time: We use this time to read together, do her ABC’s, her learning songs, her magnet numbers, sight words, memory verses, numbers and if we are home with little to no schedule remaining until lunch then we’ll pull out the magnet toys, build a house with her wooden blocks or I’ll get her water color paints out and let her paint. Usually whatever she wants to do is what the rest of the morning looks like.
Get creative with their ABC’s and numbers…let them hand you the letter/number you call out, you give one to them and they have to say it etc. Change up the way they learn and you teach them, it makes it more fun for everyone!
I love a routine and a schedule. I thrive on it and I know she does too. I’m not super rigid with it, if there is a day she doesn’t want to read or do her ABC’s we skim over it and just come back to it in the afternoon, just hopefully squeezing it in some time throughout the day!
What are fun learning activities you do with your toddler throughout the day?

What a great way to incorporate learning into your everyday play. We have a two year old and it’s nonstop in our home too. #client
