As we enter the winter season and I’m already hearing the buzz of sickness going around – this puts me in a mode of cleaning, avoiding public places as much as possible and keeping our hands washed as often as we can!

With my husband being a school teacher, it’s no wonder we aren’t sick more than we are.  There really is no telling what he comes in contact with…so I just work extra hard at boosting our immune systems here on the home front.

Yet from time to time sickness does hit our home…I am reminded that’s another way our immune systems get strengthened along the way.

The thoughts of one of us having to go to an Urgent Care or Doctors office right now really freaks me out too…why do I want to chance even more sickness, by surrounding myself with people that truly are sick all in an confined office building.

This past week we opted to try a telehealth app called Amwell.  We have been hearing about this and thankfully had not had to use it up until now…well we are certainly sold on this idea!  Right from the comfort of our own home, my husband was able to download the Amwell app with so much ease and get answers quickly.  He signed on, chose his doctor of choice and waited for that doctor to “video call” him. Prior to the call we had to fill out a short survey, as you would for any doctors office, with his medical history and what his current symptoms were.  Once the phone call started he was finished and had a prescription called in to our local pharmacy within minutes.  Talk about a breeze…again without the threat of picking up another sickness along the way!

My suggestion is go ahead and download the app so you are set up when you need it!

Why Amwell?!

You may ask what telehealth is…and that’s a great question!  With Amwell being the nation’s largest telehealth company…we were pretty confident as they would connect users with board-certified, licensed doctors for immediate and live, online visits—day or night, on either mobile or desktop.  Amwell doctors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and are dedicated to keeping you healthy  — all from the comfort of your home – WIN!!!!

Amwell certainly is complimentary to in-person care and isn’t a replacement for emergency situations.  Many use Amwell for sicknesses i.e. fever, cold and flu symptoms, allergies, stomach bugs, rashes or even for the convenience when you are traveling and don’t have easy access to your local doctors.
