Engineering Valentines Day Activity

Engineering Activities for Preschoolers

At our house, right now you’ll find all things pink, red, sparkly, glittery and hearts.  We are in full swing with our STEAM activities for preschool with a focus on Valentines Day activities!  Why not make these activities engaging and hands on with simple engineering activities at the same time incorporating STEAM into our curriculum.  STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math.  In this engineering activity we are including Engineering, Arts and Math into our engineering project.

You maybe curious how you teach engineering to preschoolers – well I’m glad you asked because you are instilling a love for learning, engaging and building within your preschooler when you give them simple engineering projects, you’ll be amazed at watching their thought process for engineering activities.

Valentines Day Preschool Activities

During our school time we’ve been focusing on a letter at a time.  A few weeks ago we were all about the letter “H” – so we read some books centered around hearts, did a valentines day science experiment with conversation hearts, engineered our “H” and also focused on using conversation valentines day hearts with our math mats in some simple addition and subtraction.

Materials needed:

  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Glue
  • Valentines Day Foam StickersValentines Day STEAM activities

How to Engineering a Valentines Day “H”

  • Glue the popsicle sticks together to make an “H”
  • Let dry (while it was drying we read our heart books, did our science experiment and math mat activities)
  • Decorate your engineered valentines day “H” with heart stickers or heart foam stickersEngineering Valentines Day Activity Easy Engineering Activity for Preschoolers Preschool Engineering Activities

Valentines Day STEM Activities

We are a husband and wife team, pairing our strengths together to teach our preschooler in the most fun and engaging way we possibly can.  The mister is a high school educator at Northlake Christian school in Covington Louisiana and over the Innovation Center, which is all things STEAM.  I am a SAHM that blogs pretty much everything we do in our little paradise, from what we eat, to where we travel to how we teach our little one.  We hope you are inspired to incorporate STEAM into learning with your children.
