STEAM for preschoolersHow does the Lemon Volcano Work?

The Science Behind Lemon Volcanoes. Lemon juice contains citric acid which when mixed with baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) reacts to form carbon dioxide and sodium citrate, which causes the liquid to fizz and bubble.

A science experiment with lemons is always fun and through the baking soda and lemon juice you’ve created a volcano.Science for preschoolers Easy Lemon Volcano Science for Preschoolers Easy Lemon Volcano Science for Preschoolers

We had a whole lot of fun making our lemon volcanos and by the end of our experiment we even had rainbow lemons and mixed colors to make new colors!  Talk about a fun way to learn science as a preschooler…what better way to engage the early learner in hands on science.
