As a mama of a busy 19 month old toddler I find myself busy and stretched some days. I’m not the only one that’s busy and stretched though, so I dare not “play the violin” looking for sympathy.
Being a mama to our little Elle… This is my calling. This is my most important job, aside from my husband. This is an honorable position. This is my dream come true. Being a mama to our little Elle.
Two days ago I found myself saying over and over…”Just a Second”…. the next thing I found myself saying was…”just a second”….it was within minutes I literally stopped what I was doing, as I realized I was not making my utmost calling a priority. Rather a burden to myself.
My little one needed me. She had a need or in most cases a want or a wish…yet my very words were over and over were…”just a second.”
I soon realized she wasn’t the one that was bothering me or causing a burden, might you say. This mama was…the finger was pointed at me. My priorities were whacked out that day. Yes the to -do list was probably a mile long. Yes the laundry was piled up on the bed. Yes the sink had some dirty dishes in it that needed washing…yes I had things I needed to do, but my number one priority is my little one.
This day I realized that “just a minute” was nothing but pushing my priorities ahead of hers…and that one day she will not “need” me…and I’ll wish I had never said “just a second”, rather I’ll never regret the time or the interruptions when I stopped what I “needed” to get done to meet her needs in those few short seconds.
No job is easy, yet I have the best I could ask for!
