The summer time has always been a fun time in our family, from my childhood to my husband sharing his childhood stories with me of summer time memories. Now we are looking froward to creating our own summer time memories with our little family of three. Since Bern teaches school our summers are free, well we say free, that’s all relative!
We were just talking the other day about our summers and what they have been filled with since we got married in 2013. The first year we were married we traveled for a good part of the summer. We went to San Antonio, TX, Maine, Canada, Tennessee and probably a lot of local day trips in there too! We love to travel and we have many dreams of going places, that’s for sure. Then the next summer found us expecting our little Elle and building our cottage, which we currently live in! That was an eventful summer and then last summer was spent framing up the house and getting it weathered in…then we were off to Maine for a week before our summer ended.
Here we are at the beginning of this summer and it’s back to working on the house, hopefully getting it to the insulation and sheetrock stage…right now it’s the a/c and electrical and final bit of plumbing…progress friends, progress. In the meantime we’ll be busy but we have scheduled a summer vacation and we’re looking forward to it.
All of that to say…we know that when we travel we love to eat! No lie, the car starts up and we’re on the road…we’re ready to snack! One of our favorites is dipping pretzels in chocolate! Then I had to try drizzling potato chips in chocolate…we love sweet and salty! It was pretty good if I say so myself! I ended up tossing, more than drizzling! The best part is this is a special snack that the whole family can enjoy. We are finding that with our little E we can’t sneak in a mommy and daddy snack without her noticing…so we’ll share the love and snack together!
Here’s the How to…ready…cause it’s super simple! Head to Walmart and snag a bag of…
- Snyder’s of Hanover® Pretzels
- Cape Cod® Potato Chips
- Chocolate for melting
Melt your chocolate according to the package.
Dip your pretzels and let dry on a cooling rack or wax paper.
Place your chips in a bowl and pour chocolate over it. Toss and let cool. You can even add in the pretzels if you’d like too, making it more of a mix. (as seen in the pictures!)
Easy, right?
If you want to make little baggies and put the snacks in, that’s always a special treat too. I like doing this when we go out and about!
What summer time memories do you have planned with your family?
