8- Where do you find inspiration outside of photography?
My children. They are truly my muse (and my biggest challenge!)
My name is Erin Barkel from Erin Barkel Photography. I’m married to an awesome guy who puts up with my crazy photography set ups and ideas. We have 4 precious babies all aged 5 and under and two crazy dogs. We live in a brick house (you know you’re totally singing the song) in Michigan. I have loved photography since I was young and have vivid memories of my pink and purple 110 Le Click camera and I having some wild adventures. I really got into photography when my eldest was born. That year for Christmas my husband got me a Canon Rebel and he’s regretted it ever since. 🙂
I started out taking pictures of our kids and posting them on Facebook. Then I had friends ask what I would charge for me to take pictures of their kids and it kind of snowballed from there! I love love love capturing families. That is my bread and butter. I think it is so stinking important to have pictures of your family and of your life right here, right now. Photos don’t have to be technically perfect to be important. In fact, I find that a pictures true value is brought on by age and the memories and emotions it brings back to the viewer.
