When I started photography, it started as just an hobby, shooting whatever I could get my hands on, but once I started getting people who actually wanted to pay for my services, I quickly transitioned over from it being a hobby to a business. Not really knowing where I was going but yet excited. I’ve learned in the business in order to know exactly what it is you want in your business and for it to be successful, you have to first visualize goals for your business, therefore I created a system that is now successful for me and may help any photographer that need assistance building their photography business.

1. Establish a Goal
“A goal without a plan is just a wish”
Visualize what you would like to to accomplish in your business (long term and short term)
2. Set up a plan
“Do not tell everyone your dreams, everyone is not dream builders, they are dream busters.”
Set a plan to accomplish your goal.
3. Start a building process
Building your clientele can start with family and friends. Offering to photograph their session for a small fee, Eventually up your pricing. Practice makes perfect. Work to improve your work.
4. Stay Focused
“Remember the why? Why you started your business, Remember your goals, ”
Don’t settle on your dreams, have a sense of urgency.
5. Everyday is not perfect.
Neither will every session be, but you have to stay positive and keep moving.
6. Manage Distractions
Life gets in the way, work through distractions, I’ve had clients that made me want to quit the business, but I had to remember that I absolutely love what I do and I cannot allow distractions to stand in my way.
7. Be Coachable
“Be humble enough to be coachable”
Everyone needs a coach/mentor to help guide them with their business. Find a photographer that you look up to, ask them to mentor you and be able to take constructive criticism.
