I love Instagram. To say it’s my favorite social media channel is an understatement.   Its been said that the best camera is the one with you. And when it comes to Instagram, users are taking their photos to another level.  I am constantly wowed by the level of talent on Instagram and have worked hard to improve my instagram photos. Today, I’m sharing 6 quick tips to improve your Instagram photo today.

      1.  Don’t use the Instagram App to take photos
I know, it’s so convenient to just snap a photo within the app and post it to instagram. No muss no fuss. ut the resolution isn’t the best. I always use the native camera on my iPHone to take my instagram photos and THEN pull it into instagram using the Squaready app. (so it has that nice white border).

  1. Look For the Light

Mobile photography, like any other type of photography depends on utilizing light. This is especially true with your photos for Instagram. Always looks for a light source( natural light is always the best).  In the photo above, there is large window camera left. So my photo was perfectly lit

  1. Use Basic Rules of Composition

Basic rules of composition still apply when it comes to photos on Instagram. It can take a basic photo and make it beautiful. Using leading lines, negative space and the rule of third still applies. An easy way to put this into practice is to use the grid on your phone to use the rule of thirds to compose your photo before push the shutter button.

  1. Keep it simple

Sometimes we are tempted to cram everything in the photo. But sometimes, a bigger statement, and better photo can be taken by keeping it simple and focusing on one subject. A great way to do this is by utilizing negative space.  When you use negative space, you end up with a composition that is extremely simplified or minimalist. Instagram users love it.

6 Quick Tips to Improve Your Instagram Photos Today

  1. Tell a story

One of the best things about photography are the stories that we see every day on our feeds. Don’t forget to tell a story with your photos. The best ones are the ones that don’t need a caption. But a cute caption on your photo will help to. I named the above on Summer Summer Summertime.

6 Quick Tips to Improve Your Instagram Photos Today

  1. Edit Your Photos

I don’t advocate downloading every editing app available and editing your Instagram photos within an inch of their lives! The Instagram app itself has made great improvements since the app was first released and can be used for basic editing, which sometimes, is all a photo needs. A simple increase in exposure, sharpening and a trendy matte can all be achieved right in the Instagram app. And this can make all the difference in your photos.
