DIY toddler crafts

With a toddler in our house we have daily messes, are you with me?  Can you relate?  Sometimes I allow her to create messes, explore and investigate.  Whether that’s playing outside in the dirt and mud or me handing her paints to finger paint with or it could be she has created a mess on her own.  Either way she’s learning, discovering and exploring.  Many times when she creates a mess it’s not exactly what I wanted to clean up at the moment but guess what, I’ll survive!  Then the messes I do allow her to create through crafting is never a chore to clean up!toddler christmas crafts

I don’t consider myself to be a crafty mama but I do this for my little one, memories and crafts for grandparents to cherish!  So lets get started!

1- Holiday Handprint Cards

What you need:

Blank 5×7 Card or folded Card Stock paper

Green, Brown, Yellow Paint

Paint Brush

Scotch-BriteĀ® Scrubbing Dish Cloths

Step by Step Process:

Put a small amount of paint on a paper plate, paint the childs hand with green paint.  Let the child (or help the toddler) paint the trunk of the Christmas tree brown.  We used our finger to create the star on the top!  Adding a little finger painting in the mix can be fun!

You could add “ornaments” with red dots for fun!

2- Q-tip Painting

What you need:

Blue 8 1/2x 11 paper

White and Orange Paint

Q Tips

Black Marker

Step by Step Process:

Take the blue paper and create the circles for the snowman and take a black marker and draw on his hat and arms.  Then let the child dip the q tip in the white paint and create snow!  My little one LOVES this!

3- Finger painting

What you need:

5×7 White Card or folded Card Stock paper

Green, brown and yellow paint

Step by Step Process:

Let the toddler finger paint the Christmas tree.  Show them on a separate paper how to create the swoops for the tree.  Finger paint the yellow star and the brown tree trunk!  These are a hit!

4- Paper Plate Holiday Craft

What you need:

Paper Plate

Tissue Paper Circles (we cut our own!)

Hole Punch

Black Paper

String

Step by Step Process:

Prep the paper plate by cutting a black square and glueing to the top.  Then hole punch a hole at the top and tie string for an “ornament”.  Let the toddler put glue all over his/her paper plate then they place their circles of tissue paper all over the plate. Creates a fun array of colors!

Have fun making memories with your littles!

I miss those days of toddler crafts… but not the messes they make! I love that the dish cloths are washable so you can use them to get paint off their hands and then use them again. #client
