Screen Free Activities
If you are like me, as a mom, I already limit our screen time here in our home. We do like to watch educational shows from time to time which is most all of what we do with our preschooler. I encourage her to have her play time and to explore through play – we love being outdoors naturally so we have a lot of time outside as well.
This week April 30 – May 6th is declared Screen Free Week! Screen Free Week was originally developed in 1994 as a break from television and was formally called TV Turnoff. These days, tv is only one of the many screens used in everyday life. Electronic devices are a part of daily routines for most of society.
Electronic free activities don’t have to be complex, but the day in age we live in our lives are so bombarded by electronics and screens. From tv to computers, to tablets and phones, to iPads and gaming systems our children are bombarded…because most households have more than one of those devices in multiple places in their homes. The studies have proven it’s not healthy for children and we as parents should limit their usage and monitor time spent with screens.
Yet there are times when my mind goes blank on simple, fun and easy screen free activities that we can do together – or she can do alone! So I compiled this list of screen free activities & play ideas so I figured I might as well share them with you all and help you make life easier by not having to think through so much, like I did!

We are a husband and wife team, pairing our strengths together to teach our preschooler in the most fun and engaging way we possibly can. The mister is a high school educator at Northlake Christian school in Covington Louisiana and over the Innovation Center, which is all things STEAM. I am a SAHM that blogs pretty much everything we do in our little paradise, from what we eat, to where we travel to how we teach our little one. We hope you are inspired to incorporate STEAM into learning with your children.
