Great tips! Love all of your pictures. I have always wanted to be a wedding photographer. I guess my first step would be to take a photography class and really master the camera. Right now I’m only shooting on automatic. I did shoot my friend’s wedding and a couple showers. It was a lot of fun!! What kind of camera do you recommend for a beginner? Thank you for sharing this!

All of your photos are so beautiful. These tips work well for pretty much any business, (apart from the obvious photographer specific ones). The big key is engagement with clients I agree!

Brilliant! As I look to revamping my photo business this year after I come back from a maternity leave, I’m hanging onto these tips. I need to do a better job connecting with other photographers in my neck of the woods, as well as blogging and consistently sharing my work!

Great tips! I’ve been in business for 3 years and I am still working on some of them, including getting my photos to stand out. That is something that drives me to push and get out the box of rules.

This is my first year actually putting myself out there as a “wedding” photographer and I am so thankful that you put how many weddings you did your first couple of years, it’s super encouraging! I get freaked and disappointed when I hear people saying to make 10weddings the goal for the year when even 2 seems impossible.

This is such a great post! This is my 2nd year as a professional photographer. I have really improved just by shooting everyday, something I thought wouldn’t really help. Now im finally getting bookings after other’s are seeing my recent work. Reviews and word of mouth really helped my business. After doing so many free sessions, it is so nice to actually get some paid bookings.
