Are you headed to the beach with your baby or toddler? I’m sharing our top beach essentials for a baby that we always check off our list to make sure we have with us! You can use this as a beach trip with a baby packing list or just learn our tips and tricks on traveling to the beach with a newborn!
Beach Essentials for a Baby
1- Sunscreen. As a mom, the older I get, the more I realize the importance of sun safety and protection for our skin. I know this probably goes without being said…but you’d be surprised how many parents don’t sunscreen their kids BEFORE they get in the water. We snagged this Aveeno® Baby Continuous Protection® Sensitive Skin Zinc Oxide Sunscreen SPF 50 and AVEENO® PROTECT + HYDRATE® Lotion Sunscreen with Broad Spectrum SPF 30 & 70 at our local CVS! I snagged the 30 mainly for myself!! Plus it provides 24-hr skin hydration against chlorine, salt water and sweat!!! I can use it on my body and face –> with an exclusive formula that is water & sweat-resistant (for 80 minutes), oil-free, noncomedogenic and fast absorbing!
With their sale we got a deal and you can too! Buy 1, Get 1 50% off Aveeno Suncare (5/20-6/2) at CVS
Don’t forget to re-apply sunscreen! Every couple of hours I reapply sunscreen – because it will wear off and before you know it the littles are burnt even though you think in your mind you put sunscreen on them! My favorite reasons for using the Aveeno® Baby Continuous Protection® Sensitive Skin Zinc Oxide Sunscreen SPF 50 is because it’s water resistant up to 80 minutes…and without penetrating skin, this lightweight formula leaves baby’s skin with a non-greasy and non-sticky feel! Plus it’s Aveeno®, the brand recommended by pediatricians, dermatologists and parents alike…WIN! (Free of all parabens, phthalates, dyes, fragrances & chemical sunscreen ingredients)
2- Wear Swimsuits that Protect. I love love love the long sleeve zip rash guards that provide so much coverage!
3- Use an umbrella. Haul an umbrella to the beach, set one up at the pool…even rent one at the beach if you have to! It’s a great way to “stay at the water” and stay in the shade with protection.
4- Wear a hat. Yes Yes YES!! Wear water resistant sun protective hats!
5- Wear sunglasses. Protect their little eyes as well.
6- Swim diapers- Don’t try to skimp on this one – get the swim diapers, you’ll save yourself some trouble on the back end (no pun intended)- I speak from experience!!!
7- Snacks. I think this goes without saying…but when there is water involved food is always welcomed!
8- Lots of juice and water for the littles to stay hydrated. Keep them drinking and drinking and drinking!
9- Towels + extra towels!!
10- Beach Blanket – especially if your baby is crawling or scooting…gives them a bit more space out of the sand.
11- A tiny blow up baby pool – I have seen this as a fun hack and I think it’s genius to bring it to the beach for your babies to have something to play in and stay cool.
Did we miss anything? What should we add to our list?
