If you have been following along in my little family’s life you have noticed we’ve done a lot of traveling this summer. This is my love language. Adventure, traveling, new places, new sights, new people, new food…all tied in with my little family on the go.
(these are a couple of my favorites from our last day in Maine back in July!)
It is no secret that traveling with a family does take work. It can be exhausting. You will feel like you need a vacation from the vacation by the time you get home. Do you know what I’m talking about? I try really hard to not have this feeling, but many times it creeps in on me!
As a mom I stress over the snacks for the little one, the clothes for everyone, making sure we have things to keep ourselves occupied during travel time, itineraries are set and ready to go, the house is clean before I leave and the list goes on and on.
So I’m showing you what I take in my Mama Travel Bag…keeping it simple but out of the box of the necessities.
1 – Camera – oh yes, this mama packs her camera + extra memory cards + extra battery + chargers. I can’t leave home without this. It’s what I carry with me everywhere, because when you travel there is so much to capture, to be remembered…yet through all of the busy-ness you’ll forget so much…capture those moments and memories.
2 – Book/Magazine – Whether you bring a hard copy or you download a book on your device…bring one because you never know when you can sneak in a bit of relaxing along thew way. I know I always laugh when I pack a book because the reality I might only read a chapter at best but I have it if I can. Most of the timeI make it happen, then there are those times it doesn’t happen
3 – Probiotics/Vitamins – I am a firm believer in doing what it takes to keep myself up to par in order to better serve my family. When I’m exhausted is when I don’t do so well…so I’ve learned to be proactive and head off anything that comes my way! You might ask what are Probiotics…they are “good” bacteria that naturally exist in cultured foods (like yogurt and certain cheeses) that offer benefits for your digestive system. I snagged these Nature Made® Digestive Probiotics Adult Gummies at Walmart and love that they are gummies (with natural fruit flavors) so I am not swallowing pills but eating what tastes like candy when in reality they are just simply good for you!!

4 – Snacks – You know the mama snacks. The ones we keep hidden from the kids in the front seat…that we oblige and share with the hubby. Those…the dark chocolate covered almonds or you fill in the blank _____! Those snacks!
5 – Water – I know it sounds simple…but we get busy. Don’t forget to stay hydrated!!!!!
6 – Wipes – Yep I’ve learned this is a staple in my bag at.all.times! Whether the spill is on me, my child or wherever it never fails we need them!!! Can you tell I have learned the hard way on this one?
7 – Toiletries – Oh I know, again it sounds simple…but I always look like a hot mess when we arrive somewhere, so freshening up the teeth, blush and powdering my oily face is a plus! Let’s be honest, it’s real!
8 – The rest is Lagniappe – Here in my area (right outside of New Orleans) we say all of that extra is just lagniappe…a good old cajun word. Everything else being the kids stuff, the hubbies stuff and anything else that can make it’s way into your bag as we stuff those last minute things that find themselves in the “mama bag”.
9 – Extras – When I am flying I ALWAYS keep an extra set of clothes/under garments in my carry on. I have had luggage lost and that clearly is no fun when you find yourself with nothing besides what you have on. I learned the hard way but having an extra set really doesn’t take up that much room in your carry on.
10 – Journal – I try really hard to journal while we are away. Even if it’s just documenting a little blurb of our day and what we did or where we went. I also document through my photography but there is nothing that can take the place of written words.
What do you carry in your travel bag?

We are also avid travelers. It is so important to take care of our health every day, but especially when traveling and visiting so many public places. #client
